I am Sammi Sparke. I am a Cambridge-based Portrait and Wedding Photographer specialising in creative portrait work with an interest in lifestyle and environmental baby and children photography. Although I live in Cambridge, I work regularly across the country and am willing to travel to meet your requirements.
Photography for me started as a hobby when I was a teenager.
After a number of jobs in Media I spent a few years travelling with my friends and my camera. At the end of this period I was certain that I wanted photography to play a larger role in my life. To make this happen I returned to university in 2009 to study photography. I now have nearly six years' experience as a photographer under my belt and have been running my own business for just over two years. Even though the last six years have been hard work and challenging, this period of my life has been fully rewarding.
I have always been drawn to people rather than landscapes, architecture or wildlife and my focus at University became artistic portraiture. The inspiration for my more creative photography is found in an array of different subjects: old photos; art cinema; vivid colours and interesting colour combinations; old paintings, surrealism; changing light; the seasons and especially a fascinating face.
My artistic side has helped stand me in good stead with regards to both the baby, children and wedding photography that I am increasingly specialising in. It also helps greatly with the work I do with musicians and bands, be it in a live performance setting or for promotional work, which I enjoy greatly.
During my travels I kept a blog. If you are interested in seeing some of the photos I took on my travels and reading the accompanying blog you can see it here:
My travel blog (A small word of warning is that the blog is written with plenty of the entusiasm, it was written on the hop and is full of gramatical errors but it captures precious moments)
